Splash

That was the sound of my boat getting back in the water. It was a pretty exhausting 3 weeks, but thanks to Tim, Wyatt, and Carson; I’m looking good. At least, the boat is looking good. I’m still old and not that easy on the eyes.

A little magic happened during the time in the yard. The boat MAGICO left the water, but the sailing vessel DABOTE returned. I renamed the boat. That’s supposed to be bad luck, but I don’t believe in such things (knock wood). I applied for entry into Guatemala with the new name and my new documents. The cruising permit under the old name expired and I wasn’t going to pay the fine to extend it. So, like magic, MAGICO just disappeared.

I’ll be moving up river in a couple days to have some more work done.

  1. Dabote is looking good. Congratulations on getting her into the water. How do you like the pros/cons of Frontera and getting boatwork done there on your second experience with such? It was pretty hectic getting Dragon’s Wing ready to go, but we did manage between the two of us. Thanks one more time for your help on that expedition. DW is now on the hard in Seattle, with the mast in a rigging shop up in Anacortes. In April I will put some bottom paint on the hull, get it launched, and motor up to Anacortes (1 or 2 days travel by boat) to get the two re-united.

    • The People at RAM were very friendly, but I didn’t use any of their labor. My helpers who worked for food saved me a fortune in yard fees.Karen asked about you and Gayle.
The West Marine store is okay. It lacks some things and some can be found in town.
Marcia may be coming here for a sail. I may be fully ready in 2 or 3 weeks.
Belize is the first destination. It’s so close that it would be a shame to skip it.

Boco del Torro, Panama will be where I leave the boatr to go to Costa Rica. You know well that I can’t take it to CR without outrageous taxes.
I hope to finally get to the San Blas Islands later this year and then on to Columbia. I really haven’t thought any further than that.
